Hello everyone!

Since season 6 ended, the team has been busy. We had a simple goal: keep what has made Athena special since 2020, a Minecraft true to the base game that we explore and build together, and rework everything around it. The game, the screens, the installation, the performance. Season 7 is the result of those months of work, and we can’t wait to show it to you.

Still Vanilla+

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Minecraft’s mechanics, recipes and progression stay the same: if you know how to play Minecraft, you already know how to play Athena. No game-breaking magic, no factories replacing the adventure. Every mod in the pack was picked to enrich the game without turning it into something else.

The landscapes, on the other hand, change a lot. Terralith and Biomes O’ Plenty renew the Overworld with dozens of new biomes, caves and woods. The YUNG’s mods make dungeons, Nether fortresses and ocean monuments bigger. And if your PC can take it, Distant Horizons and shaders give you a view all the way to the horizon.

Bigger fortresses, crimson forests and lava lakes as far as the eye can see. Head down for quartz, blazes and netherite.

A world apart, above the clouds, at the end of the Grail quest. It has to be earned, and we won’t say more.

What’s new this season

The big change in season 7 is that the heart of the server is now built by the team. Much of what you’ll see in game exists nowhere else:

  • Athena screens: inventory, chests, advancements, map and menus fully redesigned, readable on every screen.
  • The Play button: one click from the title screen and you’re on the server, even if it was asleep.
  • Messaging: private messages, groups, public chat, friends list and online presence.
  • Protected bases: claim your base, protect your area, lock your chests.
  • Collections: music, books, potions and flowers to complete to earn trophies.
  • Photo mode: take a screenshot, edit it, share it. The best ones end up in the website gallery.
  • Miner’s hammers: dig up to 5 × 5 × 5 blocks at once, with four brand-new enchantments.
  • The turntable jukebox and its disc crates, which play your collection for everyone, and the Record Dealer, a new villager selling Athena’s discs.
  • Cinematics: portal crossings, the dragon fight filmed for everyone, a server tour.

Installation, finally simple

No more installing a modpack by hand. This season comes with its own launcher: it installs Minecraft, NeoForge and every mod at the right version, keeps them up to date on its own and connects you to the server in one click. And once in game, Athena Optimization tunes the graphics settings for your computer, from a small laptop to a big gaming PC.
